I couldn't believe what just happened today!
I started up my car and the damn boost gauge lit up!
For the first time that I have ever seen and probably the first time in years it worked, sort of.
I was idling and I look the light is on and stuck on the last light.
I know this can't be right.
I drive home pull up and shut the car off.
I started it up again and it didn't light up.
Can anyone tell me what happened and what I can do to fix it.
P.S. The car is a 78 sportcoupe TR.

If anyone can help, it would be John Spina at Caspers. Give him a call. He's a great guy and an expert on all aspects of TR electronics.

The boost gauge on the 78SC is just two Hobbs switches. One for the yellow light, one for the red light.I'd have to say one or both of them are on the blink. Do they still work when the car is under boost? Maybe even a vacuum leak in one of the hoses. You should be able to test them by grounding them out. Use a MityVac to pump air into them. IIRC the switches are out on the front part of the drivers fender on that year.

When the car was started that one time. The last light lit while I was idling. It didn't change while driving.(I didn't push the car because I had by nephew in back.) I shut the car off and started it again, nothing. I think I need to check all of the connections under the hood and pull the dash to see if I can fix it.
