Just wondering , what is the correct response from an electric oil pressure gauge . I have an autometer pro comp, when i turn the key to on ( not to start) my gauge needle makes a full sweep to the right , then as i continue and start her up , it drops to zero then goes back up to a pressure value as the oil pressure rises, and settles around 50psi. till it warms up. I'm asking this because when the engine is warm i have noticed the pressure up around 70--100psi. and am suspicious that it might not be wired correctly. I did not install the gauge as it came with the car. What is the correct way for it to be wired? Thanks for any opinion's. ----86GNGUY

Once the engine is warm, it should be less than 20 PSI. It may indicate a bad ground or faulty sender. Or incorrect wiring.
