Anyone have any input on crankshaft refinishing success rates as part of a rebuild? By that I mean during a rebuild, is it standard to cut these cranks .10 under on an engine with 165,000 miles, and if so, does something need to be done with the rolled fillet, and do machine shops handle doing that well? Any recommendations for who can do it right? I guess I should also ask, is there a reliable, trustworthy, place I could send my short block and have them rebuild it?
Nothings' hurt on the engine, just high mileage and want to have it all redone.

If the crank is not 'hurt' it may not need to be cut; just polished. The fillet never needs to be touched.

A good NJ shop would be Ron Joseph's place in Kenilworth, whatever its called at the moment.

Try: 305 S. Michigan Avenue, Kenilworth, NJ 07033

Anyone have any input on crankshaft refinishing success rates as part of a rebuild? The rule of thumb I go by is don't cut it if you don't have to, but if you have to cut don't go more than 10 under. Find another crank if you need to cut more than 10.
