i replaced the fuse they worked for a while now they went out again so i replaced the fuse and the fuse blows instantly as soon as i put the head lights on.There was also a 10 amp fuse in that spot it does call for a 5 amp thats what im putting in . I talked to the original owner who owned the car for18 years said that he had that problem and he replaced the raido could that be the problem again

Have you checked all of your fuses?

Scott and Phil make good points to check... When you turn on the head light switch power will go through to the dimmer switch then down to the 5 amp INST LPS FUSE then out to the radio, dash and other lights for dimming. Turn on your lights and then use a test light and make sure you have power on the 5 amp fuse, both sides... If you don't, back track to the dimmer switch and see if you have power in and out of it... Let us know what you find... Tom G.

All the fuses are in the fuse box. Driver's side, above brake and parking brake area. May have to remove sound deadening panel.
