Doc,
I have questions about my brakes. I just bought my 87 turbo t. 2/6/09 I picked it up, put it on the trailer, when I got home the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor. When the pedal gets to the floor, the brakes apply very hard. I am just looking for a little insight. I'm new to the turbo buicks, plus not to mention my first thought was to go to the local parts store for a master cylinder. But that came to a halt when they told me the price was 1062.99

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you gone through the diagnostic tree(s) yet on the website to determine if a simple wear part just needed to be replaced as opposed to the entire Powermaster?

It may help to adjust the rear brake shoes as well.

BTW, Doc was Bruce Plecan and he passed on a couple years ago now ... still sorely missed.

If worse comes to worse and the PowerMaster is beyond repair or too expensive to repair, there are several articles in the brake section of the web site at http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/brakes/brakespage.html that detail how to convert to vacuum assisted brakes (probably less than $200 total unless you go brand new with everything).

Scott is right in that you need to go through the diagnostic trouble tree in the brake section first, it will get you to the problem... If the parts you need get very costly then go to the brake section that Ken told you about. That is how I made up my mind on my car. You can see what I did here www.tomsttype.com. Good luck and let us know what you come up with... Tom G.
