Holley has also filed for bankruptcy ... can't find the link right now, but they had over $245 million in debt from over expansion in the late 90s. Sounds like they will continue in business, but you have to wonder...

The automotive industries are really slumping ...

Edit: found it http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/12/aftermarket-parts-maker-holley-files-for-bankruptcy/

First, please don't start any unsubstantiated rumors.

Secondly...what is happening, worldwide, is some pretty serious stuff. You do not have to be in a dire financial crisis to be affected by all of this. And the effects all flow out to things that are not critical to everyday living since they already are affecting everyday living for many/most, and will continue to for some time. Its not just in the US/Canada, and its not juts going to be for a month or two.

For many people, if not most, cars like these are a hobby. If faced with eating or keeping the TR, most will take the former. Some businesses that we all know in the Buick world run things on a shoestring or are very close to being broke all of the time. That may be because they have a hard time making a profit with such a small audience, or it may because of the way they do business.

Writing their epitaph with no facts at hand is uncalled for. Support honest TR vendors whenever you can. Reveal dishonest sources when appropriate. Keep your head up, and soldier through this. Such conditions never last forever. :pat:

Perhaps Crane is doing a restructuring, and not really shutting down for good.

Have to wait and see.

Having just toured their Daytona Beach facility last October during the Daytona Beach Dreamcruise I have a hard time believing they had to shut the doors. And I doubt those who were laid off would ever come back to work for them. Having just experienced the same thing ain't no way I'd go back to my former position even at twice the money. Reputation is on the line. Hard to hold up quality standards and such when you're considered a liability and not an asset. The brand name may still be there but I'm thinking a lot of their products will now be manufactured overseas. You have to read between the lines on why they really shut down.

Given that they were recently acquired, I am inclined to agree.

Very interesting. Looks like they will come out of things more modern and with a good business foundation. :pat:

One way or another, there will likely still be a Crane from the US.
