Its that time again! The next meeting is right around the corner...

The last meeting went well. However, the room we were provided at Helen Fitzgerald's proved a little small, and a little hard for some of the group to find. We had the room packed to the gills, and since they put us in a corner of the facility, some did not find us until the meeting was halfway over. Still, I think all had a good time and got a chance to talk.

Aaron Corn still won the 50/50. How long can this continue?!?!?

Between the February meeting and memberships that have come in since we have had another *10 members* join. This is phenomenal representation from the MO/IL Buick performance crowd. The number of paid members is quickly approaching 50, though not quite yet. Anyone who thinks Buick performance is dead, is very sadly mistaken.

Spring is just around the corner. Its time to get the cars washed, shined, tuned, and ready to hit the streets and track. Gateway BPE members will be there to show them who rules the streets, and the track.

Next Meeting - March 8 - 1:30pm
(Note that the spring time change is the morning of the 8th - SHOW UP AT THE RIGHT TIME!)
Hooter's - Florissant
2765 N US Highway 67, Florissant, MO‎ - (314) 921-3786‎

Upcoming events:

April 12, 8am-2:30pm
Real Easter Car Show
Lower Muny Parking Lot, Forest Park, St. Louis
Awards @ 2:30pm
See attached flyer.

Note that it technically was due to be turned in by 3/1. However, I was _just_ mailed these yesterday by their club! I have been trying to contact the show management for a month or more. They do not have the website listed on their form. They said we may preregister for the next week or two. All those who preregister are guaranteed a T-shirt in their requested size, a dash plaque, and a voting card to vote for their favorite car in the show.

Please enter (soon!) on your own, write "Gateway Buick Performance" somewhere on your entry, and email or call me after you enter. I will contact all entrants about meeting early so we can drive in as a group and park together.

This show, as well as the Concours d'Elegance on the upper lot are sold out every year. Getting pre-registered and on site early are very important. Otherwise, you will be parking somewhere off in the park - like all of the general public.

April 19, 10am-4:30pm - Ranken Technical College Car Show - 4431 Finney Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63113
http://www.ranken.edu/WhatsNew/CurrentEvents.asp?trumbaEmbed=eventid%3D82841138%2 6view%3Devent
Not a formal club event. But as this is the only technical college with an automotive program in the area, we are recommending it.

April 25, 10a-3p - Dyno rental @ Mid Coast Performance 4529 Towne Ct. , St Charles, MO 63304
This will be our April "meeting" event as well. The dyno will be available for use by Gateway BPE members ONLY! Cost for three pulls is $45. A $10 deposit by April 18 is requested to hold a spot. Lunch (pizza and drinks) for all club members, whether making pulls or not, will be provided by the club at 1pm. We ask that all non-members contribute $5 for lunch.

Dyno deposits may be sent to:
Scott Keller, P.O. Box 27877, St. Louis, MO 63146
Please include name/address/phone with your dyno deposit, and indicate a preference of morning or afternoon to run on the dyno.

As a final note, Gateway International has revised their drag racing schedule for the season. They are combining their Tuesday (street tire) and Wednesday (slick tire) night programs into a single Tuesday night program. See the revised schedule at http://www.gatewayraceway.com/09_drag_Schedule.pdf and chat about at http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/mid-west-area/277577-gateway-revises-2009-midweek-event-schedule.html This is undoubtedly being done due to the economy. The results of combining the two programs are hard to predict. It does mean a LOT of cars at the track at one time, and fewer runs for everyone. They are also talking about using punch cards to track the number of runs taken by each car, and limiting the runs taken during the "prime time" to two. Feel free to contract the track with your opinions.

See you all Sunday, March 8th!
