@#%#$^ always happens to me.

I was going to install the new injectors, chip and valve springs. Then I find the main pulley/damper loose real loose I mean I unscrew the bolt with my finger tips loose, so at this point I abort the upgrades and go to work on the damper.
I just pulled the one of the regal and dropped it in.
To add insult to injury my almost brand new $150.00 S*K torque ratchet goes completely out of wack the handle comes loose and all most falls off. So go to my trusty impact gun with a little well a lot of medium (blue) lock-tight.
How often do these POS get loose?
And do you think the Impact gun with Medium lock-tight is tight enough?

Next problem
The rockers seam to have a lot of play, are the rockers soppose to have up and down play (about 1/8 inch)?
Or are they suppose to be snug?

If you look here http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/misc/torque.html the balancer bolt to crank is 219 foot lbs. of torque. That is a lot! I have heard of others having the same problem. I put some silicone around the inside of the damper and push it into place ( so no oil seep coming out between the crank and damper opening) and lock tight the damper bolt threads and torque it into place. It seems to stay just fine and no leaks... You need a very good impact gun to produce that torque...
Are your rockers stock? Have your lifters, maybe bleed down a little from sitting?

Ditto what Phil said ... BF Airwrench with plenty of grunt.

As far as the rockers ... can you help us with what you are looking at?

Off the head? You mean sitting on the bench? 1/8 play which way?

There's gonna be some play until everything is installed and torqued to specs with pushrods, lifters pumped up, etc.

Off the head? yes You mean sitting on the bench? yes 1/8 play which way? up and down

There's gonna be some play until everything is installed and torqued to specs with pushrods, lifters pumped up, etc. When the rocker shaft was on the head and trqued down the rockers had minimal play - side to side and maybe a 100th of an inch up and down
