While their might be a tiny discrepancy for the chip in the '86, I'll consider the 86-87 cars the same.

They usually are able to achieve 14.8-14.6 100% factory stock.

With nothing other than a chip change, 13.6 is not a problem. In fact, I was able to go 13.4 with an old Kenne Bell chip on a cold morning. Car was 100% stock, otherwise. With today's much improved chips, and adding in improved exhausts, cold air kits, etc. it should be trivial to set an 86/87 car up to go 13-flat and be emissions legal. Or faster sans cat. That with stock turbo, etc.

Kellar, guesstimate the following combo's ET please...stock 87 GN drivetrain with Walbro/hotwire, adj. FP regulator, 3" ATR DP, LS1 maf w/ translator and KN filter, chip, rebuilt stock injectors, and drag radials, and the proper tune. Could I expect mid 12's with this combo? What if I went with 60# injectors? This is my first turbo Buick engine that is going into a hybrid and I don't know what to expect. I'm thinking your 'butt dyno' is probably calibrated better than mine. Thanks.

Well...

- What boost will be used?
- What is the weight of the vehicle?

In my experience, you should be fine with stock injectors down to almost 12 flat. However, understand that you will have to turn the boost up above stock to make ETs like that happen.

Lets say 20# boost and 3600 pounds. 20# is as low as the external wastegate will go, according to the previous owner.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention no cat.

Frankly, if everything is working right, your suspension and traction are cooperating, and you can feed it enough fuel, you might see 12.1-12.0. Or better. I found my car was lean at 12.1 with the stock injectors, but others have gone 11.9 with them. *shrug*

I did that with the stock MAF, and continue to use it. The LS1/Translator setup might give you more air, so you might see a lean issue sooner; not sure.

All I can say is I hope you are using a good chip, and have honed your tuning skills. Start out a little fatter just to be safe and I think you'll be fine.
