Hello all. I've been a member here for quite a while and bought a few items 2-3 years ago with the intention of building a mid-11 second car. I need to know which cam you guys like for the following set-up:

Precision turbo either PT52 or TA52. (one=590 horse and the other=600 horse)
50# injectors (not sure which kind, bought with the turbo from Precision way back)
Terry Houston downpipe
Aftermarket iron heads with the following flow numbers tested @ 28 in:

Intake Lift Exh
------------------------
54.8cfm .100 51.9cfm
110.3 .200 100.1
158.2 .300 129.4
189.2 .400 144.6
195.2 .500 160.5
.550
196.1 .600 163.3
198.2 .650 164.2
197.9 .700 164.2

I also want to get a front-mount intercooler down the road. I don't want to get a roller cam setup due to the cost. I've already bought a bunch of ZDDP plus so hopefully that will let the cam be ok! Plus does anyone know where to get a good engine assembly manual for these cars?

Thanks a lot!

DH

P.S. Going to the Nats with some cash in hand for parts!

whatever cam you go with, ,make sure it has good valve springs

Don't go nuts on the cam ... that's a (relatively) small turbo so it doesn't need as much exhaust duration.

I'd try something in the 206/206 range. You might like a 210/205, but they are sometimes a little noisy due to the fast ramps on the lobes.

You might want to look into getting some 60s/chip ... the 50s aren't really all that great any more (old ball style injectors). You can also take advantage of some better chip technology out there too.

As far as the intercooler, you can also go stretched stock location ...

i agree with Ken, and i can vouch about having some problems trying to tune in the 50# injectors..

ended up going with the 60#

The 50's also tend to lock up at high pressures. Inconsistent, too.

Hope you'll see some vendors there to spend your money with...

Hey Scott! Long time no chat! I remember seeing you a few times at the Nats at the Gnttype booth and also at a few of the dinners at some of the fine, fine dining establishments of the Bowling Green area during member dinners. I liked the cam recommendations you guys had. I also would like to stay on the conservative side with the cam. Do you think that I can keep the stock converter with the setup I have? It's crappy my injectors are already obsolete but I know that's how it goes. Also, does anyone know of a good engine assembly manual for our cars?

Thanks.

DH

Stock converter will work, but isn't optimal ... a little bit of stall would make it easier to drive.
