hello, people went to track today, best time 14.300 in 3rd gear at 4600 rpm with 0.007 light. I was hopping for better time.I have to get better at tuning. can't seem to unleash the engine.

Do you have any recorded data for your run?

Is it still set up as a "hot-air"?

With the 3.90 gears listed in your profile, I would have expected a lot higher revs than 4600 in 3rd. Maybe even WAY too high revs in 3rd.

What was the 60' time, and what rear tires are you using?

it is still hot air with 29" tall tire in rear ,I watched the tack 4600 rpm. there was a stock intercooled car there he ran 15.50 I do not know his times and there was a ttype he ran 8.90 ,138.-- that guy was moven nice car ,the front of the car never comes down.

First, you should not use overdrive at the track. Doing so will only be hard on the OD clutches in the trans and not improve your times.

Second, with the tall 29" tires the 3.90 gears are not so bad. For the power you have now, you should be sticking with 26" tires if possible. I take it that you have slicks? Or perhaps off-road truck tires? :brows: Re

Its hard to trust the in-dash tach for accuracy. And you should not be watching it down track at speed. I was hoping you might have some sort of scan tool data to see if you had knock counts, O2 sensor data, etc. That info really helps with tuning.

Was this with the stock chip?

Really, for a hot-air car with minimal mods, and tall tires, this isn't bad at all.

scott, I have scanmaster, but can,t figure out how to use it. I set the tps at .42 /4.6 at wot I was runing 42lb fuel pres. how do I turn up boost ? my 02mv reads ~475-~525 don't know if I had knock ran 100 octain race fuel .I have a turbotweak chip I ran 14.847 - 88.87 I put in hiperchip I bought on the net and held 3rd gear longer for a better time. what will happen with the stock gears slower times? the engine sounds strong and smooth. thanks jeff

Jeff,
What ECM are you running?
Looks like you are running lean. Shoot for 760-780 with the race gas.
If the chip is a V5.6 with an 87 ECM, you can add fuel and timing in the chip.

You may want to go back to the TT chip.
It is the BEST HA chip in todays market, period.

Like Scott stated; It would be nice is you could post a log of the run for review.

How much boost were you running?
