The following was received by the webmasters of this site.

Though they mention a 1979 TR, they actually started being made in 1978. I will call to insure that is corrected. So they may want the latter.

If you contact them, let us know what happens!

Hello, by way of introduction my name is Tracey Konczak and I work for Weber Shandwick Worldwide. We are a public relations firm in Detroit. I’m interested to get the below photos in high resolution and I’m wondering if you could put me in contact with someone that would have such photos? With the 100th anniversary of the turbocharger upon us our client Honeywell Turbo Technologies/Garrett is trying to locate landmark vehicle photos to be use in a large supplement which will be included in Automotive News Europe. We are looking to get the below photos and also the owner’s permission to have these photos used in the trade outlet.

1977 SAAB 99

1979 Buick (Regal) begins production of world’s first V6 turbocharged production car. (Garrett T3 W/G)

1980 Pontiac (Firebird TransAm) begins production with Garrett T3 wastegate
1987 Chrysler Dodge-Shelby Daytona Turbo-Z with electronically boost controlled Garrett VNT turbocharger
1987 Buick Regal Grand National GNX with Garrett Ceramic Turbine Wheel T3/T4 W/G and intercooler.
1991 Fiat Croma, first VNT on passenger car

Just got off the phone with Tracey. She stated that they got everything they needed from GM Photo Archives. I told her about my concern regarding the 1978 / 1979 Turbo Regals, and she just repeated the statement regarding GM Photo Archives...

*sigh*

Something tells me this could be like the book I flipped through that said the GN had a "213 CI" V6. Be carefull about what you read in print...
