Has anyone ever seen or used a set of stage 2 heads with casting number 25500185? They seem to share the same combustion chamber and posibly exhaust ports (depending on date manufactured) as the 0131 heads, but the intake ports are square. Almost looks like they could be the same cc, but different shape. Are these good heads...what are they worth? They must be rare, as I can't find any info on them.

Sorry, I meant the 0031 heads...nosuch thing as 0131 head.

That number seems to be for a Stage II 4.1 block.

Note that the casting numbers and parts numbers are often different. And Stage II intake ports are large and rectangular.

Thanks, Scott. The number does match a block, but my heads still share the same number. I'll see if I can post some pictures next to the rectangle port heads later for a first hand comparison. I actually have 2 different castings of the same part number. It looks like the ports were raised from one to the next. But I only have one complete set of two, and that's the one I'm more interested in.

OK. I took some pics today, and started an account on car domain so I could post them where anyone can see. Let me know if anyone has ever seen these before.

Interesting...

So the square-port heads are set up for Buick-style shaft rockers instead of Chevy style pedestal mounts like the other heads? (and most Stage II heads)

When I purchased the heads from a machine shop, I was told both sets had shaft mount pedestals when they were new, but they had already shaved the pedestals from the one set. You might have seen that the valve guides were already installed on both sets. In fact, both sets have some level of work done. The race team that had the work started, closed their doors and couldn't afford to pay off the work, so the machine shop kept them. Being in the Denver area, not many people have modified turbo Regals. So I happen to walk in his door a week before the machine shop had to relocate (due to the city of Denver taking his property to turn it into a skate park), and struck a deal for 5 heads, 4 intakes, a set of brand new Buick Motorsports Stage II valve covers with hardware, and a couple of aluminum header flanges fo fab custom headers. I had big dreams of a Stage II engine, but after marraige, house and kids, I just want to finish the engine I have and drive my baby again. It's been in an "auto cocoon" since '97 or '98. So, back to the heads, I think they were being prep'd for a Trans-Am series race car. I recognized the 0031 number heads, and figured since the 0185's were so similar, other than the intake ports, that surely someone, somewhere had run then on a GN. On the head I didn't show, one port has been totally modified and somewhat relocated. It looks awesome. more like the rectangle, but with rounded edges. Either way, I've seen many custom intakes for Stage II heads and figured these would be no different. I just hoped someone could tell me what they are worth or if anyone would be interested in buying. I would almost like to keep my 0031's, just in case my dream became a reality.

I wonder if that came from the Indy Series stuff?

Sure is an oddball and looks very specific to some sort of specialized application. I've noodled around and can't find anything about that casting number either but I'll keep looking.
