Is degreeing a cam in the TR really necessary? I've had a GN shop tell me years ago to skip it...just install the dots straight up. I'm looking to install my newly purchased roller cam and associated parts. Just wondering if spending more money on a degree kit will give me anything in return.

I've had one cam that was 4 degrees off when I degreed it, so it saved me a lot of frustration.
If you absolutely trust your cam grinder, then the 2 dots method works fine. However, all it takes is one slightly misground cam to cause all sorts of consternation.

It's a comp cam 210/215, probably somewhat mass produced. Is this one you would be worried enough to go through the extra effort?

I think I'd check it, but that's just me ... it's probably all right.

"consternation". Ken, you get the vocabulary prize of the day.
