Hi guys-

So That damn red brake light has kicked on for the last time. I have been reading a bit and see that there are pros and cons to vacuum, but it seem that if you dont want to keep replacing that damn PM, and it looks like its going the way of the dodo anyways, then its time to convert (opinions welcomed here :-))

I have been trying to gather a parts list to complete the project, and although the vacuum swap article on the site is great for the actual job, it doesnt have a good list for the parts needed.

This is what I have so far, with some questions about its content:

"master cylinder, vacuum booster" - I found this unit on Rock Auto for a 87 Monte Carlo: http://cardone.com/English/club/members/customer/ecat_brands/imageinfo.asp?PARTNUM=501243 - It looks like the master cylinder is on this unit. Its a "loaded power brake booster, dual diaphragm". Does this take care of both those needs?

"brake pedal" -Junkyards are non-existant in my area, which is why Im buying new or reman. Where can I get one?

Vacuum Block, check valve, filter - Where can I get a '89 TTA vacuum block? I'd like to use that instead of using a "T". Does the check valve just go on the vacuum line running between the brake unit and the block? And is the filter necessary? Doesn't mention it in the article, but it sounds important.

I dont think I need to stress that I don't want to eff this one up :-) I have been very successful in my repairs and conversions thus far (thank to your help and my new found patience) but I dont want to end my streak with not being able to stop the car! So all your help and guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PS - I am learning and DID do a search on the forums for a parts list. No go :-)

Perfect Ken, thanks. It gives me a perfect look at what parts I need. I could put it together cheaper than those new prices though unless I went with the used one from Gbodyparts. Its that damn pedal I can't find.

U think the used one would be ok?

I don't know if Eric Fisher is still there at Gbody, but he'd be the one to talk to. He's one of the pioneers on the G bodies for suspension, brakes, steering stuff. He used to AutoX his GN with all sorts of unique suspension stuff. It was funny seeing him beat up on some of the Mustangs/Camaros in his class!

Hehe...a Rally Inspired GN. That would be a sight :-).

Thanks for the help!
