First, see http://www.gnttype.org/general/product.html

A lot depends on what you want. Looking to make a killing on it? Poor choice. Go real fast? Eh...not so much. They aren't the fastest, but aren't terribly slow.

The entire site is filled with info. Explore and learn. And ask specific questions. They likely all have been previously answered on the site.

If you say "good investment" and "car" in the same sentence, the answer is almost always no... unless it's a "barn-find" Bugatti you bought for $800. :D

The "hot air" year Ts were relatively rare in numbers, but that doesn't translate to value unless there's some sort of exceptional history with the car. Most really nice hot air cars hover in the $6-9K range (and we're talking NICE, not driver quality). Accident history, poor mechanical upkeep, road rash all significantly devalue the cars.

Depending on what you're looking for, it could be a fun and economical toy if you buy it right. It'd be a lot of fun as a daily driver if it's mechanically and electrically sound. Upgrade the ECU/ignition module to the later year style, fuel pump, some basic stuff and it should be fairly reliable.

However .... If you're looking for a 10 sec 1/4 mile stormer, it's probably not a good choice as a starting point. If you're looking for a car to put in a bubble for 10 years to make a killing on, it's also not a prime candidate.
