I LOOKED UNDER MY 85 GN THE OTHER DAY, AND NOTICED THE 4 PIN CONNECTOR WAS NOT CONNECTED THERE, AND COULDN'T FIND IT. WHAT DOES THIS DO, AND DO I NEED IT CONNECTED AT ALL TIMES?
THANKS

This connector does the following:

3rd gear switch signal TO ECU
4th gear switch signal TO ECU
TCC lockup FROM ECU

Without it connected, you won't have torque converter lockup and if your chip has a "lean cruise" feature, it may never be activated, since it doesn't know when you are in 4th gear.

Are the wires that are supposed to go into the connector present?

Note that its not wired the same on all 200-4Rs. You have to get things wired up right...

Could that connector have been unplugged because some one put a non-lockup convertor in there and decided they didn't need it?

That Is What I'm Wondering, Art Carr Did The Tranny, And I Got A 9" Converter!
I Actually Found The Plug, Taped Up Under Neath The Harness. Not Sure To Connect Or Not!

Still should know what gear its in...

I'd plug it in. Consider the knowledge level of the 'mechanics' who last worked on it.
