Which is better..or more useful

a scanmaster or a turbolink scan tool? I do not plan on turning my 87 GN into a race car and will be buying this for a buddy who is a mechanic at GM whom will be working on my car at his place. I have a good laptop already-so that is not an issue. Is the only difference really that the scanmaster permanently stays in your car and the turbolink by a laptop? Or does one have more useful functions?
