How to check/adjust timing?

Can anyone give me detailed instructions as to how we check and adjust the timing in our cars? I'm very new to the mechanic biz. Thanks!

The timing is set/controlled by the chip and computer,... not sure if you can use a timing light to check timing but a scantool of some sort should show you.

You can adjust your cam sensor. Beyond that, all timing adjustments are in the chip. If your car isn't misfiring, the cam sensor is likely OK. See articles on the site for adjustment procedures.
