My power antenna will not extend anymore. The antenna motor just keeps on
running. I had to unplug it in order to stop it. My question do I need to replace the mast or could I just replace the cable? Where can I get the parts for this.

Radio shack used to sell power antennas complete for a fraction of the cost the dealer charged. Many times you could get OEM replacements but you have to call their home warehouse to order it. The local retail stores will tell you they are not available yet they are still are in the warehouse. I ordered 3 OEM replacements the last time a couple of years ago and still have a new one in the box. You can get the number off their catalog. JC whitney is another source you might try.

There's plastic strap thing that winds around a spool that drives the mast. It has probably broken.

I bought a GM repair kit and fixed mine back in the early nineties for about $15, if I remember right. Hardest part was rethreading the spool with the new mast and strap.

Here's a couple articles:

MUCH cheaper than a new one. But a lot of work. Keep your stock one well lubricated and not bent, and hopefully it won't break the cable. If it has, the cable fix is about 1/10th the cost of a full replacement.

Thanks Guys for the info. I'm almost sure it's the cable or strap that broke.
