Sensor Problem?

I have a 1987 GN with high miles and have been getting a "check engine" light recently. It only comes on when idling for a few minutes such as at
a drive-in window. Engine seems to idle real low and almost shuts off, but
when you give it some gas, the light will go away. I assume it is one of
the Emission devices, but don't know which one....

any scan tool data? jumper the top two pins on the aldl under the radio, once it flashes code 12, long short short, 3 times. See if you can get the code and start from there. my experience is that it should store the code for later retreival. Good luck.
