i have been trying to work out a code 42 problem which happend after my alternator went bad and had to put a charger on it, all signs point to ECM fried! Where can i get another one, or will one from another vehicle work?
Keller was saying that this happend to him a time back and he used one from a century? Wouldnt the ecm have to know what boost is?

The part number is 1227148. See http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/ecmsensors/8487ecmlist.html for a list of cars it came in.

The ECM has more smarts than you think. But it never knows the boost. Which is why it is so important to insure that you have your car set up to control it properly.

There are actually some additional functions that are handled in the ignition module.

Most of that chain stores sell remanned ECMs for a pretty reasonable price.

I bought one from Auto Zone here recently (for a test bench) and it was $78 with a core.

Most salvage yards will sell the older ECMs (like this one) for $20 or less.
