Slapped on a te-44 turbo and terry houston downpipe and now i can no longer achieve a burnout, i get to about 6 or 7 psi ( or so it says on stock gauge) instantly and then nothing, i take off and the lag is unbarable for the first few psi then at high rpm it takes off, any body else hae problems with their te-44? any help would be great

What is the rest of your combo? Particulartly the torque converter.

you need a higher stahl converter for that turbo

i know people that run larger turbo's like pt-51's on stock converters and they still can at least manage a burnout

The combo of the turbo, plus the THDP adds up to less response. The stock converter will keep the response down.

Now, is it really a stock converter? Some reman attempts at D5 converters aren't really the right stall.

Bottom line is: you probably are in for a converter update. While you are at it, you may want to evaluate your transmission situation to insure it is up to the task of handling the newfound power you've added to the combo.

Another possibility is some exhaust leaks, etc. I'd set up an aftermarket boost gauge to insure you are getting accurate readings, if you don't already have one.

The combo is great! You've just got one (maybe more) missing pieces to the puzzle.
