You can start out "cheap" like I have with the smaller K&N filter (w/mounting bracket) from Kirbans. I bought the "smaller" filter so I did not have to relocate the vapor canister. Or you can get "larger" filters under the hood. Or you can buy "cold air" intake kits around $180 and up depending on size, pipe finish (chrome, alum, etc). Check the other boards - there was some recent discussion about this with links to vendors. Good luck.

The first, and cheapest, mod is just to remove the box around the stock filter. You have to use the top of the box, but you can either buy a bottom, or make one out of a paint can lid. Then you will get to hear the turbo "sneeze" that comes from an open air cleaner.

just get the real deal and be done with it. tin man or big mouth. theyre the same basically.. they route a K&N filter OUTSIDE of the engine bay. its the only way.
