thinking of dropping my mufflers

Thinking about taking off my flowmasters. I have a hi flow cat then it splits into duals. The pipes look like crap so I am going to repalce them. My ride is an 85 T-type, has and adjustable wastegate. Question is: If I delete the mufflers and just run dual pipes will I need to re-adjust the wastegate, or do you think it will be okay? Also do you think it will help or hurt when it comes to power at the wheels?

My guess is that you'll have to readjust the wastegate. The pipes should flow more than the Flowmasters do.
