Autometer tach calibration

I just bought a Autometer sport comp 5" secondhand. Everything works fine except I dont know which of the two wires(brown or blue) to hookup for proper 6 cyl. operation. Both were cut when I bought it and the directions describe a blue and orange. Can anyone help?

I just bought a new tach from Autometer, and it says:

Units with orange & brown loops: 6 CYL - Clip BROWN wire loop only.

Units with blue & brown loops:
6 CYL (3 pulse) - Clip BROWN wire loop only
6 CYL (VR-6) - Clip BROWN and BLUE wire loops.

Don't ask me what VR-6 means. NFC

Anyway, hope this helps.

My guess is the VW VR6 in some of the Golfs...
