Where is the tach signal coming from, so I can hookup my 5" tach? My car either didn't come with a tach, or it's just not showing up on my crappy digital dash (wouldn't surprise me), and I can't seem to find the wire in any diagrams. Thanks.

Digital dash cars have no tach.

If this is an 86/87, there is a green connector with a spade connector on the driver's side of the engine, roughly behind the A/C compressor. That has a 5v squarewave tach signal on it. It may take a 10k resitor between that and ground to work with some tachs.

It's an '87 Regal T and the tach's an Auto Meter monster. I'll try that, thanks! :)

Auto Meter monster
Kinda overkill for a motor that'll never see 5500, isn't it? That's a 10k RPM tach!

FYI you can get the mosnter tach that reads up to 8k

That's the one I got, the 8K.
