Fuel gauge stuck

Hello, Last weekend I took the buick out for a spin and noticed that I only had about a quarter tank so I stopped at my station and filled up the tank. When I was drivin home I looked at the guage and it was still reading a quarter tank! Question is .. Do I have to drop the tank or is there anything I can try or check? I guess I should have filled the tank a month ago before I parked it in the garage. Thanks.

I would suggest checking the harness for resistance to the sender in the tank before dropping it. Check at various times during a tankfull, and see if it changes. May also be a bad sender in the tank.
