I have a chassis shop Seneca, SC. A former ATR employee is now working with me and we are considering building 3" Down pipes with internal wastegates. These will be a THDP style. He used to build all of ATR's, so he know what all it will take to build. We are also considering building a headers as well. What do you guys think? Is the market still there?

Thanks,
Scott

Let me put it this way....If one more person asks me where thay can get a 3" DP
I am going to snap.

As far as the headers go, not so much. If you kept 3 or 4 sets in stock you would probably get rid of'em within a year or so. Postons has them as well. Of course if you had a lower price.....

I think there will always be a market on the DP's. I certainly would not make a whole boatload of them, but like with the headers, keep a few in stock.

Make me some polished sheet metal wheel wells and we'll talk. :D

There are a lot of things that ATR did well in stainless. But there aren't that many of these cars.

If exhausts in the ATR styles were available at a fair price, I am sure they would sell. And you have a larger potential market, as they would fit all G-body cars.

I'm in need of a standard 3" downpipe. IMO, there is definitely a market out there from what I've seen. All of the vendors appear to be out of stock and when a used THDP shows up on the "Parts for Sale" threads, there are several people all trying to buy one.

Right now we are looking at doing a 3" and maybe a 3.5". We are going to meet with some suppliers this week to see if we can get the material at a reasonable cost. I'll keep everyone updated.

Thank,
Scott
