help with turbo-link please

i am trying to use my turbolink v4.0 and cant get a connection, my laptop detects new hardware when plugged into the computer, but the light doesnt come on and doesnt get a connecion when plugged into the car(neither with key on or running). can a usb cable go bad(theres no chewmarks or anything), the light is supposed to come on when plugged into the computer right? :rant:

Are you using a USB serial converter? I've seen some that don't work properly...

Make sure the pins are straight that plug into your ALDL connector. Mine were bent and wouldn't engage the correct pins and gave me this kind of error.
