catalytic converter rusted off

My cat rusted off my 85 where it attached to the downpipe flange. It looks like there is a clamp to the other end of the cat attaching it to the catback exhaust, is that right? I guess what I am trying to ask is can I just remove the cat and attach a piece of exhaust to the flange, and is there a piece available commercially for this? It looks like I would need a piece of pipe with the 4 bolt flange on one side to connect. Thanks.

You've got the four bolt flange where it bolts to the down pipe. It uses a 2 bolt loose flange to hold it to the Y-pipe. The cat has a ball flange and it mates to the flare on the Y-pipe. Your cat will have have 4 holes on the rear of it. 2 for the flange clamp and 2 for the hanger.

Thanks man, I had a local exhaust shop want to cut the downpipe flange and straight up weld it together, they said it would be better due to less ikely htere would be a leak.
