I am used to v8 cars so bear with me here. My car has a full exhaust set up (3" everything into a 2.5" dual system)and I was curious about the factory manifolds. All the mods were done before I got the car (87) and I am trying to tell if the manifolds are stock. The manifolds look like headers on my car. By this I mean they look like every set of v8 headers I have ever seen. I didn't know if these cars had a log style from the factory or if they had a factory manifold that looks like a header (a la ford 2.3). any help would be nice......thanks :nilly: by the way.........its a t-type limited...87

They are tubular, with tacked on heat sheilds from the factory. And they flow very well.

Thanks, mine have no heat sheilds. But I guess it's a possibility that the guys that intalled the motor may have cut them off. I don't know..........but thanks for the info....... :)

It looks like mine are aftermarket headers...........thanks for the info. I am not sure why my car has such a nice exhaust system but when the engine was built they installed a rebuilt factory turbo.....oh well......I think now I HAVE to upgrade to at LEAST a ta 49. damn....;).....Thanks again.
i have the atr headers im wondering is it worth the effort to put those on over the stock ones? ive heard stock give better low end power
heres the list wat ive done to the beast. upgraded fuel system reg pump wire kit, 2.5 cat back exhaust, rjc racing plenum plate, turbo tweak chip, upgrade intercooler neck, atr cold air intake, 35lb injectors, ported turbo kneck, 16x8 trans am gta rims 245s all around, bilstine shocks all around, atr sway bar (the big one) 2 3/4 down pipe
wat do ya think yes or no to headers?

I've been told (multiple times) that if your car is in the 12's or slower then don't worry about it. 11's or faster w/ a converter then headers can be usefull.

I would sink that even further. Maybe 11.50 or lower.

I concur, the stockers are sweet.
