Did all '87 GNs have "textured" paint in the "rocker" area or was it part of an option?

Secondly, was that same treatment used in 1985?

Thanks for the help.

1. Yes

2. Hmmmm... probably, but not sure.

GM put textured paint on all of the G-bodies. Depending on the model and what plant it was assembled at determines where and how much of the lower body was painted. I've noticed subtle differences on the 84-85 hot air TR's built on the Flint MI assembly line as compared to the Pontiac MI assembled cars. My 82 Regal built in Flint has just the lower 2 inches of the rocker panel textured. My last ElCamino built in Arlington TX had just the rear quarters textured to give you an example.

Thanks, that's starting to make sense. I noticed about 6 inches on my '87 yet another '87 has much "heavier" texture to it, and a friend w/ an '85 does not appear to have any??? And it is a 10,000 mile original car?
