Had a problem with the seal between the pass, header and turbo flange.
Took it apart to have a look see and the copper gasket in there was torched through - about a 2mm gouge right through it.

Anyways, stoned the turbo and header flanges flat and assembled with a small amount of grease as per one of the members suggestions and it still leaks a little.

My question is (finally) Would I be likely to have any more trouble with a copper gasket now I have the flanges flat?

What have you guys had the best luck with? The copper gasket that I installed with my TA49 lasted about 1500 miles if that.

Tia.

I've had good luck with them. Usually put a thin skin of hi-temp RTV on it before assembly, assemble, and let it dry before use. Flat ones are probably better than those with a bead rolled in them.

I saw the one at RJC, is this one with a bead? Mine had a bead which I bought from Kirbans with the turbo. Don't know who his supplier is. Are these generally bolt in and forget asuming that the flanges are in good shape, or do the gaskets have a life span if that makes sense.
