I see alot of alcohol postings but I dont see anyone talking about just adding toluene to the gas? there is a nice write up on this site that talks about increasing octane with toluene. is it a bad thing or just no one likes to constantly add this stuff to the gas? I would like some insite. I dont like my 14 degrees of knock retard on 21 psi I got today.
I thought I heard something funny comming from under the hood, I dont want to hear a boom along with it....

There is no easy place buy Toluene around here, as far as I know. I guess I haven't tried all that hard to find it. You can buy Xylene, which is a similar octane booster, at Home Depot or Lowes, but at $13 per gallon it doesn't save a lot of money over 104 unleaded.

They are both pretty nasty too (http://www.drugs.com/enc/toluene_xylene.html). Gasoline is probably worse for you, but you don't need mix it yourself and risk getting it on your skin or paint.

Here is a good summary of the different octane boosters,,,
