on plan on upgrading my stock 87 tr turbo & fuel system now. my ultimate goal is to have a mid 10 to mid 11's street car. i plan to make other upgrades here & there as i go along.... but my main question is what turbo to go w/.there are so many turbo's too choose from, so if i go spend the money, i want to be sure its the one that will help me reach my goal w/ minimum drawbacks. dependibility, economy & heavy modifications are factors..ive heard a ta49 is good for starters, but would like hear about some others....pt models?te models?ta models? whats the difference?
i seen the te61 & te62 in poston catalog & was curious.....
any info appreciated.

You have a lot of good questions. However, your goal or question above really doesn't make sense. Your basically saying "I want a 500-700 HP street car." That is a huge span of tuning, and thus a huge target for parts selection. You can't really buy a turbo or injectors or a converter that is suited to that target. Its like trying to do target practice with a shotgun.

Its more realistic to pick a specific set target (i.e. 11.50 or 10.90), and build to that target. A few turbo and injector selection links to start the head-scratching:

Keep in mind that there are a LOT of other parts that will have to change on the car as well to build to a target that fast, no matter what.
