No. They are completely different.

As a newer member, you veterans feel free to correct me.
I just went through this with my 84T.

The 84 and older rear drives had 14 bolt oil pans. They also had a different front cover to fit the 14 bolt configuration.
85 and newer rear drives used a 20 bolt pan,w/revised front cover. If you get newer block, matched oil pan, and front cover they should work as cores. I haven't found any difference between the turbo block and non turbo blocks. Many members have good used items listed on this site. Push rod length would be my only concern, several lengths were used across the years, They should be checked anyway.

I used the 20bolt block/pan/cover for my rebuild.

Yes... But you can't use a FWD block, which is what was asked. :nono:

Also, the 20 bolt oil pan showed up mid year '85 ... so some '85s had 14 bolt oil pans.

I've owned a few 85 turbo cars. Not one of them had the 14 bolt pan. I'm not saying thats impossible just highly improbable. If I had the choice I'd go 20 bolt. Only because baffled 14 bolt pans are hard to find. A must for these cars IMO. From what I can tell only the 83-84 turbo cars are baffled. And only the turbo cars are baffled on the 20 bolts too. Which ever pan you use just make sure you use the correct oil pick up screen. If you are looking for a block any NA block will work. Your drain back hole on a non-IC engine is on the intake manifold so its a moot point. The newer you go the stronger the blocks get. I've had good luck finding the NA 109 blocks which is the prefered block. It has a .030 shorter deck height than any of the other blocks so if you do use that one make sure you use the thick HG. I've had good luck running the stock steel shim HG on my hot air cars with the stock block. Plenty of sources for affordable parts.

I did agree with you about fwd blocks not working. :luv:

Thanks for the Info! What does NA stand for? Please bare with me.

On the block can I drill out the front water jackets holes to match the head gasket and heads to keep the engine cooler?

My 85 had a 14 bolt oil pan on it so they were out there.
