I've been told that the replacement part offered from GM for the factory shifter cable is a tad longer. And that this length aids in the operation of a trans brake if one has their transmission so equipped.

Any opinions?

Mine does seem a hair short. Almost have to 'hold' the shifter down in 1st to insure it will stay there for a launch. All other operate normally. Does not seem possible to 'adjust' this since the cable goes right down to the transmission.

I haven't heard if the cable is longer but...have you tried adjusting it down on the transmission? The bracket is slotted and has an 1/8" or so of wiggle room.

sounds like you might need to adjust your column linkage
