So driving the other night my intrument lamps went out. the fuse now just keeps blowing over and over again. i tryed putting a slightly higher amp fuse in (shame on me) and my tailights and gauges fuses blew as well. after limping the car home with hazzards, i replaced all blown fuses to find that the INST LPS fuse continually blows. My car is a mint all original car with 68k and has never given me a single problem since i bought it two years ago. (86 GN Hardtop). Im not very good with electrical so any asssisntce would be a help. I may have a bad dash ground ive been told ?
thanks -Brendan (Fall River MA)

sounds like you have a power wire shorting to ground.
Do you have any aftermarket stuff tied into your fuse box? gauges etc ??

Check the grey? wire that goes to the shifter console. I think they are notorious for shorting to ground. I've seen 2 cars where that causes trouble. You can try temporarily cutting that wire, insulate it, replace the fuse and see how long the fuse stays good. This wire sends power to the shifter light indicator.
