I would like to put a tach (steering column mounted if possible) so i can get real Numbers on my rpm's through the traps, stock GN dashes are so boring. Can anyone advise a good tach , and where does it connect to as well for RPM readings. ---Thanks --86GNGUY---Steve.

There is a tach connector under the hood - green connector, driver's side, behind the A/C compressor, near the #1 plug. It puts out a 5v squarewave signal. Not all tachs are happy with this. Casper's Electronics makes an adapter.

I've got a 2 1/16" 6K VDO in my pillar that I had factory modified to work, but I heard they won't do this anymore.

Thanks for the relpy;-- I was looking at the charts for engine cranks but no start./ and was wondering if a guy could splice into the white wire( 121 ) port ( E ) --- it says that it's instrument panel tach lead, what would you GN guru's think. --By the way i'm reffering to the wire's on the 14 ( PIN ) connector to the ign. module. --- 86GNGUY--Steve.

i would use the tach port under the hood " green connector"... no need to go splicing into the engine harness with its not necessary
