a good flowing not clogged radiator and a 160 thermostat should fix your problem

You may also want to try a different chip that turns your cooling fan on earlier, that should help, along with the thermostat/ clean/good rad.

The main use of a thermostat is to warm the motor quickly---it circulates the coolant within the block --- closing access to the radiator until a set temperature is reached. This helps speed warmup and reduces cold motor wear. So it is not a good idea to run without one.

plus, sometimes cars will overheat without a thermostat in it, since it acts as a flow restriction that slows the water flow down, which allows the water to "pick up" more heat on the way thru the block, and "throw off" more heat while it's in the radiator.
