Line Honeing
I am planing on a bottom end rebuild on my 87 GN motor and someone told me that it was very important that i had it line honed. I dont even know what that is much less where to get it done or even why i have to get it done. SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN!!!!!!!

Any competent machine shop with a line boring/honing machine can do it. Basically, they run a long rod with rotating stones on it thru the crank mains to ensure that all of the mains line up and are round. It ensures the bearings all line up and they will get the correct geometry when the mains are tightened down.
