There were many different castings and designs of intakes for the Buick V6 over the years. In general, the production turbocharged intakes fall in the following categories:
- 1978-1983: These intakes supported a draw through carbed turbocharged setup
- 1984-1985: These intakes wer designed for an SFI setup with the turbocharger introducing air to the back of the manifold
- 1986-1987: These intakes were designed for the later SFI/Intercooled turbocharged applications which introduce air thru a plenum and throttle body
