Featured Car - Tom Brown's 1987 Grand National

Looks good from any angle!
This is Tom's pride and joy ... a 1987 Buick Grand National. The car currently has 63,000 miles on the odometer. Tom purchased the car in October of 1997 when it had 47,000 miles on it. She's a garage queen these days, only seeing the best that the weather has to offer.

Tom's love for these cars goes all the way back to 1987 when hw saw his first GN on a turntable at the Chicago Auto Show . Tom tells us "That car took my breath away. It must have been something about the all-black treatment and the mean stance. I made a promise to myself that I would own one of those cars someday and 13 years later my dream was realized!"

Tom purchased this car completely bone stock, right down to the air cleaner assembly. Tom speculatoes that it might have had the original air filter too because it was really nasty looking! Tom has done the typical Recipe items that follow several 12-second plans for the Turbo Regals. Tom is thinking that the transmission isn't acting quite right and is probably due for some attention.

Tom says he has had a great time working on his Buick and racing it . He plans to have many more years of fun with it. Current plans include a turbo upgrade to a TA49 or TE51, Duttwieler neck on the stock intercooler, and a transmission rebuild.
