Hot Wiring Fuel Pump

This may seem like a strange question but I am fairly new to these cars and was just wondering exactly what Hot wiring the pump is and the benefit of it. I'm sure it is something simple but I have never really heard of it put that way until I started researching my new car. Thanks for any and all help.

Stock pump wiring has many connections between alternator and pump. Lots of places for problems and places for voltage drop. A direct path from alternator to pump, switched by a relay and triggered by the stock circuit allows higher voltage delivery to the pump. Casper's Electronics offers a kit for this. Kirban's, and ATR, as well as other sources may as well.
