Engine stopped on roadway

Well started to accelerate heard a little pop (not loud), tried to start, crank but nothing. A tow job home. Looking at fuel pump first, crank over push small value at end of fuel line -nothing comes out. :dunno:
When I turn key on hear something running for a few seconds (as normal) no start (is that the pump pressurizing?) Any other way to do an easy check?

That is the fuel pump relay turning on the pump for 2 seconds to prime and you should have fuel coming out the rail when you pressed on the small valve at the end of the rail... You really should get a fuel pressure guage to screw on the rail and get a pressure reading, 37 to 43 psi... Probably get one at harbor freight for 20 bucks... Just cause the pump makes noise it may not have pressure enough to make things work... Are you sure you have enough fuel in the tank??? Tom G.

Thanks will do the Harbor Freight tomorrow. Loosen nut at inlet to filter (not alway out) turn key on. Checked found only a little fuel, also did with nut secured - checked at rail found very little fuel. Have order new pump in Monday.

Did think about that, gauge says 3/4, however have not checked - will since that tank can be heavy.
