Default fuel tank question

this may sound dumb but i have all these plastic dividers in my fuel tank the look like they have broken in a few places what purpose do the serve ?

That's the baffle that all turbo Regals have. It prevents the gas from sloshing back in the tank on acceleration and starving the fuel pump.
