Wastegate selection
I want to replace my stock downpipe and have the option of porting the stock elbow and using a 3" dp, or using the TH style dp. If I use the latter, I could use the internal wastegate or the external one. I'm leaning towards the TH style. What are the advantages/disadvantages of the internal versus the external style gates? This will be on a driver, not a track car. The external gate has the 'cool looking' factor that appeals to me, but is it warrented for a driver?

Re: Wastegate selection
Agreed.
Stock style 'flapper' wastegates are much traditionally more reliable and easier to plumb than external gates. Granted, some of the newer external gates are very reliable. But they are also expensive. However, you really don't need them. Keep it simple, I say. "Looking cool" is not always best.
