What was the code? Are you sure it was overheating related?

As far as cooling ...
  • Ensure the coolant levels are correct
  • Enusre coolant to water mixture is 50/50. You can use a cheap antifreeze tester available at any auto parts store to test it
  • Have the radiator serviced .. it may need to be rodded and boiled. Worst case, it may need to be recored and if so, there are some excellent high perf cores available.
  • Make sure the fan is functioning properly
  • Make sure any shrouding around the radiator isn't loose or torn

Is your thermostat playin games? how bout that scale buildup,, where it sorta blocks water flow a little. could that contribute to a little higher temps?
